Mass for Ordination to the Diaconate 5 October
MASS CELEBRATED BY ARCHBISHOP DENIS HART FOR THE ORDINATION TO DIACONATE
OF MICHAEL KONG, LINH PHAM, MINH TRAN AND SANG HO AT SAINT PATRICK’S CATHEDRAL, MELBOURNE, ON SATURDAY, 5TH OCTOBER 2013 AT 10.00 A.M.
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
With great esteem and joy we welcome Michael, Linh, Minh and Sang for their ordination as Deacons. I, as Archbishop, am deeply grateful to them and to their parents for the great giftedness they have shown in this journey to ordination, their perseverance, their love of God, their warmth and their goodness.
The six years of Seminary training and the other preparation which they have done is a clear indication of the way in which these men have allowed the Lord to guide them in their life of prayer, of work and of trust. They have looked at him and have not looked back, moved always by the love of God who calls them to service. They are invited to see Jesus present in the faces of those with whom they work and pray, as they continue their journey to priesthood and complete their final studies before ordination.
The journey must continue. The response of human beings to grace is something which is always a matter of wonder. For this reason I welcome these men as I thank their families and friends who have accompanied them and encouraged them on the journey and I thank the staff of Corpus Christi College and Catholic Theological College. They have always come forward with the great goal of the priesthood, as now supported by family, fellow seminarians, friends and people, they undertake this new commitment to God in perfect celibate love for the life and service of his people.
