Mass of the Chrism celebrated at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral

Tuesday 11 April 2017

“The Spirit of the Lord has anointed me to bring Good News.”
(Luke 4:18)

Dear Brothers in the Priesthood, Brothers and Sisters,

The Gospel which we have just read offers us imperishable life, liberty, light and hope. It echoes what Pope Francis said about the joy of the Gospel and its power to transform each of us. Reflecting on the gift of priesthood in our Diocese and in our parish, we remember the life-giving constant service, which you my brother priests give so effectively.

Mass celebrated with the institution of lectors at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, Melbourne

Sunday 19 March 2017

Mass for schools to honour the Feast of Saint Patrick, in Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, Melbourne

Friday 17 March 2017

My dear young friends,

Patrick was born in Roman Britain, the son of a city councillor, who had a country farm. At sixteen Irish pirates came and sold him as a slave. For six years he had to be a shepherd, living with the sheep in wind and rain. Encouraged by a voice that he heard in his sleep, he escaped and found a ship and eventually got back to Roman Britain.
