Four New Orleans families are a little better off today since a grass-roots housing program helped them secure an affordable place to live.

The Jane Place Neighbourhood Sustainability Initiative opened its first permanently affordable four-plex apartment building in the Mid-City neighbourhood in 2016, giving the families stability in their lives and eliminating their worries about whether to pay the rent or the utilities in any given month.
