On Monday morning this week the pontifical foundation Aid to the Church in Need consecrated three building sites in the villages of Bartella, Karemlash and Baghdeda (Qaraqosh) for the reconstruction of the first 105 houses belonging to internally displaced Christian families. The owners of the houses were each given a small olive tree so that these can grow in their gardens as a symbol of peace and reconciliation.

The Vatican Observatory is hosting a major on 9-12 May conference on ‘Black Holes, Gravitational Waves and Space-Time Singularities,’ underlining the point that science and religion can actually get along. The director of the observatory says it might help if more scientists who are believers ‘came out,’ sharing their faith.
