As World Youth Day 2011 approaches, I cannot help but remember the wonderful memories I have of World Youth Day 2008.

WYD08 was a gathering like no other. I made lifelong friends from many parts of the world. All over Sydney, red, orange and yellow backpacks stood out.

On the evening of 10 June many people of different faiths gathered for the annual interfaith dinner planned by St Paul Apostle Parish Ecumenical & Interfaith Committee, Endeavour Hills.

Sacred Heart Kew 120th anniversary

The Solemnity of the Sacred Heart fell on 14 June in 1890 and on that date Fr Patrick Fallon was made the very first parish priest of Sacred Heart Parish in Kew. Until then the Jesuit Fathers had looked after the Kew area. However, Archbishop Carr decided to move Kew into the care of the diocesan clergy and leave Richmond and Hawthorn in the care of the Jesuits.
