Sunbury Parish hosted a Liturgical Music Workshop this week, led by Br Michael Herry.

Br Michael has written many well-known pieces of liturgical music. He has also produced numerous albums including 'Song of the Pilgrim', 'God of Surprises' and 'From Penola’s Plains'.
Br Michael is passionate about the interface between music and spirituality/prayer and has been exploring this sacred space through the composition of short scripture-based chants based on the stories and teaching of Jesus as they come to us in the Sunday Lectionary.

We were very happy to hear the new series 'Come to the Table' (Volumes 1,2 and 3) relating to Year B and how we could use it throughout the season of Lent and we each received a copy of the booklet and cd.

Br Michael graciously led our group including representatives from surrounding parishes, through reflective chants and then launched into enthusiastic renditions of Lenten hymns and responsorial psalms. Those who attended were drawn into the beautiful melodies that Br Michael played so beautifully for us. We listened enthralled to the Mass settings of St Ambrose and St Margaret.

The night was full of active participation, enthusiasm, endearing stories and beautiful music. We can’t thank Br Michael enough.
