Vale: Father Joseph Micallef

Vicar General, Monsignor Greg Bennet, has today announced the passing of Father Joseph Micallef PE.
Fr Micallef died peacefully on the morning of 6 March 2018 at St Bernadette’s Aged Care Facility, North Sunshine.
Ordained at St Peter and Paul Basilica, Rome on 13 March 1965, Fr Micallef served the Church in a very positive and pastorally enriching manner, giving fine example to both his brother priests and the community for over 25 years. The Archdiocese is most grateful for his service to the Church of Melbourne.
A member of the Order of Friars Minor Conventual, Fr Micallef became incardinated into the Archdiocese of Melbourne in May 1977.
Fr Micallef served as Assistant Priest at the parishes of Albion (1974-1977), Clifton Hill (1977-1979), Williamstown (1979-1981), Noble Park (1981-1984), Glenroy (1984) and Hadfield (1984-1988).
He was then appointed Parish Priest of Kealba in 1988 until 2006 and was then appointed Administrator of the parish of Yarraville in 2006. Fr Micallef retired in 2007 and was appointed Pastor Emeritus.

Pontifical Requiem Mass to be held Wednesday 14 March 2018 at 11:00am - St Paul’s Church, Kealba (230 Sunshine Avenue, Kealba)
Burial to follow at Keilor Lawn Cemetery (Ely Court, Keilor East)
