‘The gifts of the holy spirit’: Message from Archbishop Comensoli

Thursday 1 October 2020

Communications Office In this week's message to the community of faith in Melbourne, Archbishop Comensoli invites us to recognise how we are each participating in the life of grace during the pandemic despite being denied this opportunity to receive the Lord in the Eucharist. ‘Let us find ways of coming back to the source and summit of our Christian life as we call the Eucharist, and that we might be able to come back to the receiving of the Lord in Holy Communion. But we are not deprived of our baptism, or our confirmation.’

On 1 October we mark the feast day of Sister Thérèse of Lisieux. In 1890, at the age of 15, Thérèse Martin professed her solemn vows in the Carmelite Order. On that day she carried on her heart a letter to Jesus in which she had written: Let me be forgotten like Your little grain of sand, Jesus. May your will be done in me perfectly, and may I arrive at the place You have prepared for me.
