Address given by Archbishop Denis Hart at the opening of the new residential development at Saint Peter’s Parish, Toorak, on Tuesday 6th October 2015

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

With great esteem for the forward looking planning and all that has been done to bring this project to its beginning, I am honoured to be with you to give my endorsement and support to Father Brendan Hayes, to John Ralph, to Peter Walsh and the members of the committee at this highly significant development.

It will have the advantage of providing worthwhile accommodation for parishioners and friends alike and the financial on-flow will mean that the maintenance of the church and parish facilities will be placed in a secure frame for many years to come.

It is not often that our parishes have the vision to conceive and then do the hard work to bring such a project to reality.  I do wish to say, however, that I am very enthusiastic about what is proposed.  I believe it will be a significant enrichment to Toorak as well as a genuine gesture of service to parishioners and visitors alike.

I do commend this project to all those interested because it is so worthwhile and it will mean putting the life of the parish and the services which the parish is able to render on a strong basis into the future.

I do thank those who have worked so hard and I do commend this project to your attention.  I am happy to declare this project open and I encourage your strong involvement in it.

 + Denis J. Hart,
ARCHBISHOP OF MELBOURNE.
