The Race to Save Our Century

IF you tend towards a pessimistic assessment of contemporary culture, you may be tempted to spare yourself another source of pain and avoid The Race to Save Our Century. But if you do, you will miss out on an informative and finally optimistic analysis of what has gone wrong with the world, and some proposals for setting things right.

The book is a joint effort of Jason Scott Jones, a filmmaker and human rights activist, and John Zmirak, author of the Bad Catholics series of books and a prolific blogger on religion, politics and many other topics. They each contribute roughly half the chapters, which are substantially adapted from earlier articles published in various journals and blogs. But the book reads as an organic text with tightly related arguments, rather than a compilation of vaguely related pieces.
