On the feast of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop, Archbishop Peter A Comensoli ordained Alexander Chow as a deacon for the Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne. It was a unique celebration, with just five people present at St Patrick's Cathedral due to COVID-19 restrictions. Deacon Alex is currently in his fourth year of studies for the priesthood at Beda College, Rome, where he will return following his ordination.

We hear a lot about older people in aged care and how they’re coping, but how are people in other support services faring? VMCH provides 14 Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) homes across Melbourne for adults with disabilities who can live independently, with some support.

When Bishop Goold visited Europe in 1851-1852, he purchased a peal of eight bells for £500. They went on display at the Crystal Palace, Exhibition in London in 1851 having been cast by Murphy’s Bell Foundry in Dublin. Originally intended for St Francis Church, they arrived in Australia in the ship Lorina in February 1853.
