One of the books I have most frequently recommended to customers looking for a spiritual book is Fr Jacques Philippe’s Searching for and Maintaining Peace. Fr Philippe has written a lot of books since then, all of them worthwhile, but this one seems to have something special that appeals to nearly everyone.

This week, Bishop Mark Edwards OMI will be installed as the sixth bishop of the Diocese of Wagga Wagga, NSW. Before leaving Melbourne, Melbourne Catholic caught up with Bishop Mark for a conversation and walk through the Fitzroy Gardens, where he reflected on what he’ll miss most about “home”, his thoughts on the Plenary Council and how passing on the faith is all about telling stories.

Son of Thunder: St James the Greater

Thought to be a cousin of Jesus, St James is in the unique position of being one of four disciples who saw the earthly ministry of Jesus in its entirety. According to the Gospel of Mark, James and his brother John were in a fishing boat on the Sea of Galilee mending nets with their father Zebedee.
