The bells of St Patrick’s were ringing loudly, calling the congregation to Mass on Sunday 13 November 2016. Among them were the donors, benefactors, volunteers, family, friends and staff of CatholicCare – the social service agency of the Archdiocese of Melbourne – for today was their annual Mass of Appreciation.
For the last 20 years, CatholicCare has held a Mass of Appreciation to acknowledge and thank the many supporters whose contributions have built on a shared mission - to enable ‘life to the full’ for those less fortunate. The Mass was celebrated by His Grace Archbishop Denis Hart; concelebrants were the Very Reverend John Salvano, Reverend Joe Caddy (CEO CatholicCare) and Reverend Thang Vu (Board member CatholicCare).
‘It takes a range of resources to give hope and support to people and families,’ said Fr Joe Caddy addressing the congregation at the end of the Mass. ‘Some of these resources are spiritual and human, and others are financial and material. When we unite on the same journey - like we have today - our contribution as a whole can be life changing for the people and families we serve. Thank you for being part of the CatholicCare journey. We are blessed to have you here today and part of our family.’
Following the mass, over 250 members of the CatholicCare family shared in light refreshments at the Cardinal Knox Centre.
